Fragile. That’s what human beings are.
Even if the world tempts us to be the opposite, or our own minds convince us otherwise, the word of the Lord remains true - we are formed delicately.
You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13)
Our insides are delicate.
When we keep on stepping on a ground we can’t even call home, we start to deviate from our delicate nature. We muster the strength to show up every day, gain muscles on our hands and feet, until it reaches our hearts. What makes it even easier to arrive at this condition is the lack of prerequisite for men to label their fellow men as dramatic, exaggerated, or overly sensitive. Suddenly, it’s not the word of the Lord that breathes life into us but the people around us.
Let me pull up some words from Jackie Pullinger:
God wants us to have soft hearts and hard feet. The trouble with so many of us is that we have hard hearts and soft feet.
What is formed by the gentle hands of the Father during creation is now being held by men whose hands are broken and needed saving.
Whenever you find yourself neglecting the parts where you feel deeply, may Psalm 139 encourage you to embrace those parts instead. Because when you do, you declare that His works are wonderful.
Let your heart pull you to its nature - sensitive and requires careful handling.
Then, let the Father’s words serve as the seal of that identity.
I have a friend who hates being sensitive as much as I do. At one point, I think all of us felt this - the urge to brush off everything and move on, pretending we’re not affected. During those moments, may we remind each other we’re not robots, we’re human beings capable of feeling.
It’s a tough world out there, my prayer is that the Lord will surround you with kind people.
With love and with hope,
Julienne
